Yes it can!!! Of course I am talking about the fist gen Z with even less power than a stage III on VG30DETT. For example, My '75 280 Z with a 330 HP small block Chev runs 12.3 A 113 MPH all day long on street tires and gets 20 MPG with holley carb. High 11's with slicks. I just installed an aftermarket Multi Port EFI and hope to increase the MPH to 115 and the MPG to at least 25. My engine cost less than $4000 to build including the engine itself, the car cost less than $4000 to buy including all the trick suspension mods for auto crossing. I have contested top time of day against race prepped Vipers and C-5 vettes in this car. So for $8000, less than the initial price for a used TT, you too can have a fast car. Of course, the first gen Z doesn't have that "CHICKS DIG IT" charisma of the Z-32, but if all out accelaeration combined WITH handling is all you are after, then I recomend looking no further than a properly setup V-8 240/260/280 Z.
